How to Reach Haridwar

Haridwar is well connected by train, road, and air. Here's everything you need to know to plan your journey from any major city in India.

By Train — Best Option

Haridwar Junction (HW) is on the main railway line and well connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, and most major Indian cities. This is the easiest way to reach Haridwar.

By Bus / Road

Haridwar is well connected by road. Both Uttarakhand Roadways (UPSRTC/UTC) and private Volvo buses run from Delhi, Dehradun, and Rishikesh.

By Air

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun, 35 km from Haridwar. It has flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and other major cities.

Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) — 35 km from Haridwar. Taxis to Haridwar: ₹600–900, ~1 hour.

Indira Gandhi Airport (Delhi) — 230 km. Better to take train from New Delhi station instead.

Pre-paid taxi from Jolly Grant to Haridwar available at airport exit. Book online for better rates.

By Car / Self-Drive

Haridwar is accessible by NH58 from Delhi. The drive from Delhi takes 5–6 hours (avoiding peak hours). Parking is available near Har Ki Pauri for a fee.

⚠️ During major festivals (Kanwar Yatra, Kumbh Mela), vehicle entry to Haridwar city center is restricted. Plan ahead and park at designated lots outside the city.
