Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar
Har Ki Pauri — "Steps of Lord Shiva" — is the most sacred ghat in Haridwar. Located on the banks of the holy Ganga, it is believed that taking a dip here during auspicious times washes away all sins and grants moksha.
About Har Ki Pauri
Har Ki Pauri is the most important religious site in Haridwar and one of the holiest places in all of Hinduism. The ghat is built around a footprint of Lord Vishnu embedded in a stone at the Brahmakund — the spot where the Ganga is believed to exit the mountains and enter the plains. Pilgrims from across India visit to bathe in these sacred waters.
The evening Ganga Aarti performed here daily is a spectacle unlike any other — thousands of devotees gather as priests wave fire lamps in synchronized movements, chanting ancient hymns while the Ganga glows with floating diyas.
